See how we could help reduce debts
At First Step Finance we have created a distinctive service that offers a complete solution to debt problems. We actively help clients to sort out their debts.
A different approach
Our approach is unlike a traditional debt-management company. We are very different in that we make no assumptions and carry out a detailed review of your debts. We will investigate any debt claim that we think is irregular, or where the company claiming you owe them money has not produced any kind of documents to prove your debt. In some circumstances, this can allow us to reduce a percentage of the debts you have. However, please remember that challenging credit agreements can cause other risks. Please also read our key facts (pdf, 53 KB).
Until we contact them, your creditors (the people or companies who say you owe them money) may not be aware that they may have broken the law. Even then they may not want to admit it.
In our investigation process we make sure we ask for proof of any debt from your creditors as soon as possible.
We do not write off debt. Only a court can write off a debt. When you ask us to check your debts, we will let you know if that option may be open to you.
Our legal team are experienced and have considerable experience of unravelling complicated documents. They understand the rules and regulations surrounding consumer-credit agreements and how the credit industry works.
We are not a solicitors' practice. However, you can measure our success by looking at the hundreds of clients who have completed our plan. This article shows a sample of our results. These are actual cases of clients who stuck to the plan. On average it can take anything from one year to three years to complete a debt plan.
Normally a debt-management plan can take many decades (pdf, 92 KB) to repay the equivalent debts. Click the link to see some research on the average length of traditional debt plans (pdf, 533 KB).
By your side
We understand how uncomfortable it can be if you are pestered by creditors chasing you with phone calls, letters and court documents. We will be by your side to offer advice, and help, in dealing with all of these matters.
If there are issues that might result in court action, or if the court process has already started, we will negotiate the fees associated with this action separately with you and your court advocate (a person we can put you in touch with to help you in court ).
Please phone us as soon as you receive any calls or paperwork from your creditors. If we feel we need to take immediate action, we will ask you to send us the paperwork in envelopes we will provide for you.
We will then deal with the matter, give advice, and help in any further action that is needed. We will make sure you are involved in all decisions we make.
